John has over 40 years of experience in log and timber home construction renovation and restoration. John started building custom scribed log homes in the early 80s all across Canada as well as internationally.

 

During these early years people asked me to look at some fantastic homestead heritage buildings to see what could be done to restore and refinish their homes. I became interested in wood restoration; at the time there were little if any products available for lasting wood decay repair and the application of breathable finishes. Both my sons, Jesse and Josh have been involved in many projects over the years. 

 

When I had a huge project of refinishing multiple log homes; I researched low VOC finishes (VOC = volatile organic compounds are solvents that get released into the air as the finish dries). I turned to Scandinavia and Europe where the log building had its beginning and I began to order European finishes. The level of customer satisfaction with my work and the products became the turning point to pursue log home refinishing and restoration.

After many years in the north we settled in southern Alberta. Work has brought us now to Newfoundland and Labrador. I am available to customers in Atlantic as well as Western Canada.

 

Over the years I further developed and researched the use of specialized equipment and innovations in environmentally friendly and high quality products. Satisfied customers is my goal number one!

 

I have lived in log homes for the majority of my life and I believe this brings another level of knowledge and understanding when I work with log house owners to improve their homes.
